Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) – 1 field degree program

The degree programme B.Sc. Midwifery Science offers a science-based and practice-oriented education in which the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities as well as scientific expertise are taught. The degree programme thus qualifies students for professional activities in various areas of midwifery. The degree programme is practice-integrated, with both theoretical study phases at the university and practical study phases at the clinical and non-clinical cooperation partners. The programme concludes with a Bachelor of Science degree and a state licence to practice midwifery. Students receive a salary throughout the entire programme. The degree programme prepares students for the varied and responsible work of midwives. Students acquire the skills required for comprehensive midwifery work in clinical and outpatient settings.

Selection and qualifying examination Procedure

Non-EU citizens (without German school-leaving certificate) do not take part in this selection procedure. Study spaces are granted according to a quota of 8% of the available spaces.

Academic content

The bachelor's degree program in midwifery science is equally science- and practice-oriented. In both the theoretical and practical study phases as part of the university education, students are taught sound knowledge and skills on a broad professional basis. The study of midwifery qualifies the students for a reflected, obstetric action on a scientific level in the individual care of pregnant women, women in labor, women in childbed and newborns in the various fields of midwifery. In addition, graduates are enabled to contribute to the scientifically based further development of care structures and processes of the midwifery profession and to critically reflect on their actions against the background of various conditioning factors and to contribute to the further development of midwifery practice.

Results of the last selection processes

The tables with the results of the last selection processes allow you to see the assigned grade/number of points in the selection process which would have sufficed and what the waiting period would have been to secure admission. The assigned grade/number of points is based by subject on the average grade or weighted grades achieved in the German higher education entrance qualification, on test results and/or outcome of the selection interview, and also on professional or practical experience in the respective subject.
