Romanische Sprachen und Literaturen (Romance languages and literatures)

Master of Arts (M.A.)

The two-year Master’s in Romance Languages and Literatures deepens academic study of the languages, literatures, and cultures of the Romance world, combining rigorous analysis with a global perspective on Europe and the New Romania. The programme centres on two chosen Romance languages and specialisation in linguistics or literary studies. Students examine complex linguistic, literary, and cultural phenomena systematically and comparatively. Integrating theory, methods, and independent research, it prepares them to address scholarly questions in global Romance-speaking contexts. Graduates gain advanced language skills, strong analytical abilities, and broad cultural knowledge. They can conduct and critically assess independent research on complex topics. Career paths include the cultural, educational, and communication sectors, international fields, and academic careers.
