Polyvalent dual major bachelor's degree programme - Major field (teacher education track)

Sinology at the University of Freiburg provides a comprehensive introduction to China’s past and present, combining advanced Chinese language proficiency with an in-depth understanding of its history, politics, and society. At Freiburg’s Institute of Sinology, students study Chinese as part of a dual-major Bachelor’s programme, combining it with a second major. They choose between a Secondary School Teaching (Gymnasium) track or an Individualised Studies track alongside disciplinary coursework in both majors. The Secondary School Teaching track prepares students for a Master of Education and teaching careers in Germany, though subject combinations and practicum placements may limit opportunities. The Individualised Studies track focuses on academic dual majors with career skills, preparing graduates for Master’s study or diverse careers in the public and private sectors, NGOs, media, museums, and cultural institutions.

It is possible to study music at the Freiburg University of Music. Make sure to inquire about the admission requirements Please inform yourself in advance about the admission modalities there. You can combine any teaching subject at the University of Freiburg with the artistic subject of music.
Please also note that it is not possible to be admitted as a student teacher with a combination of any of the following fields: Catholic theology, Protestant theology, Jewish theology, Islamic religious studies. It is not possible to combine one of these fields with philosophy/ethics either.
