Islamwissenschaft (Islamic Studies)

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) – 2 field degree program - Minor Field

There is more than one Islam: from the Atlantic coast of North Africa via the Arabian Peninsula, Turkey, Iran, Near and Central Asia to Indonesia, the geographic region of cultural areas shaped by Islam has many facets. And Islamic Studies is equally diverse: from the religion through the cultures to the history and politics of the Islamic world, Islamic Studies deals with every aspect in relation to Islam. This includes not only discussion of the Muslim faith and the Koran, but also Islamic literature, art and languages.

Hardly any culture is as hotly debated as that of Islam at the moment. So a degree in Islamic Studies can offer you an opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge and therefore a better understanding or even actively to help shape today’s society and politics.
