On the occasion of the opening of the 2023/2024 academic year, the University of Freiburg called upon all students, researchers, employees, and alumni to take part in an essay competition on the topic “Freiburg: University of the Future?! – Studying, Researching, and Working in 2030.”
In the essay, authors were supposed to develop ideas on how the University of Freiburg needs to be positioned in the year 2030 to counteract challenges such as demographic change, climate change, and political conflicts, as well as the flows of flight and migration associated with them, and to remain a place of lively and open exchange. At the same time, they were also asked to explicate practical visions for studying, researching, and working at the University of Freiburg in the year 2030.
All submitted entries are now presented here. All authors were also honoured at the official opening of the academic year on 18 October 2023 and recognized for their commitment to the University of Freiburg. Each of the four winners received a €50 gift certificate for the Unishop in recognition of their entry. All other authors received a €20 gift certificate. The prizes were provided by our booster association Alumni Freiburg.
